While taking a local group from the National Trust around the new East Trail part of the reserve, we came across this sorry looking fella! From the jesses’, bell and radio transmitter it was obvious it was an escaped falconry bird but from where....
It is always difficult to identify these birds as they are often crossbred to produce the ideal specimen although this one has probably got plenty of peregrine influence!
We did try to catch it but it was far too quick for us but he didn’t go far. If anyone knows where it may have come from, please let us know.
