This morning was the latest of our series of wildflower walks. A happy group of 14 dodged the showers and went for a gentle stroll around the woods. We were led by Perdita, one of the stalwart volunteers who help out at the site. I tagged along at the back.
It really is surprising quite how many different types of flowers you can find, even within a short distance of the centre. Selfheal, wild parsnip, tufted vetch, wild liquorice, woolly thistle, black horehound.... The list goes on and on (and with some wonderful names in there too). Top of the spots though was probably a bee orchid. This was a bit of serendipity. We know we have them in the woods but this was outside the usual area where they are found.
Missed this walk? Don't fret, we will be running another one in August. Keep your eye on the events section of the Top Lodge page for details (once we work out which date we will do it on)
