I've been having am lot of people asking me recently "Are you going to be running red kite roost walks this year?". Well, the answer is a resounding YES!

These walks are held at a local wood, when we go to see kites gathering to spend the winter nights roosting together in the trees, something they seem to do purely for social reasons. And it can be quite a sight. Up to 100 birds, wheeling and circling over the Northamptonshire countryside as the sun sets.

Now, where we go is private land so we have to ask for permission to be there. All the details are still being thrashed out, but i am happy to say that the first three dates have been announced. they are:

  • Saturday 19 November
  • Saturday 26 November
  • Saturday 3 December

We do hope to add more walks (lots more!) through December and January, including mid-week ones.

To go costs £7 per person and places absolutely have to be booked (and paid for) in advance. Give the centre a call on 01780 444691 during office hours on any day of the week, and we can get you booked in. But do hurry, places are bound to disappear quickly!
