So, it was the annual Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend, and today was the day we took part at Top Lodge. Many thanks to all those who came into the Little Barn and lent a hand spotting birds. Hope you all had fun.

We had a total of 13 species seen. In decreasing numbers they were:

  • 14 jackdaws
  • 11 house sparrows
  • 6 blue tits
  • 6 chaffinch
  • 5 goldfinch
  • 4 greenfinch
  • 2 marsh tits
  • 2 great tits
  • 2 robins
  • 2 blackbirds
  • 1 dunnock
  • 1 coal tit
  • 1 carrion crow

Not a bird but of great interest to all were the two field voles, who also came out to join the feast.
