Emma and I thought we'd take advantage of the lovely warm summer sunshine (honestly!) to have a quick trip up to Troup Head and have a final check on the gannets. Although some of the chicks are still white, most are now only a few days away from fledging.
These black gannet chicks will soon be leaving the cliff and heading south, perhaps as far as Africa, to start fishing for themselves. In the meantime, there will still be plenty of them hanging around Troup Head for the next few weeks.
