My neighbour called me over for this one. I have never watched the birth of an insect before. Sadly the house has now gone and so has the pond.

There were three of them, and our local farmer says he has never seen them before here in all his 60 years! They appeared about three weeks ago and sit in the oaks by a fishing lake just 200 yards from our cottage. We are inland but near the Wye.

I managed to photograph a beautiful Jay which landed in my garden. I had seen this bird before but it had never stayed long enough for me to identify it properly.

I was watching my garden one morning in January to see which birds were appearing and returning. Suddenly I spotted a movement in some undergrowth then out popped a pied wagtail. He has visited everyday since and I registered him on the gdn survey.

I was surprised to see the fox laying in the flower bed eyeing up the squirrel who was trying to get to the nuts for the birds.
