  • Forum post: Pipistrelles and Foxes.

Last year, knowingly, for the first time in my life, I saw Bats, Common Pipistrelles, ( could have been Sopranos, but more likely Common) ). I was stood in my garden at dusk, ( I feed and talk to the foxes) , when something flew between me and the tree I was standing next to , I knew immediately it wasn't...

This rather lovely specimen was hunting something in the grass and keep leaping up and pouncing. Looks rather more thoughtful though in this pose.

  • Blog post: Time for a stag party?

No, I'm not talking about boozy nights out for the boys before they get married. I mean something filled with far more testosterone than than juvenile pranks can muster. Something that really separates the men from the boys, the haves from the have nots. Something to really the girls talking and...

The north brooks this morning looked like autumn with a small flock of rusty-brown wigeon (nearly 50) and a variety of waders - a few black-tailed godwits, dunlins, ruff, snipe and many lapwing. Sadly, no sign of yesterday's curlew sandpipers. There was also this splendid fox sitting in the sunshine...

One Feb.evening I opened the door of our motorhome and saw two green lights under the tree about six foot away from me. The lights were the eyes of a lovely red fox staring straight at me he sat listening while I spoke softly to him for some minutes.
