    Walking along the beach at Culmore, Derry (N.I.), the sun still up. Comorants gathering on the far shore, and a Little Egret, all white, is wading in the Foyle estuary. Thought it was one of the Herons at first, but no, my first sighting of one!!

    Sunday 8th feb we spotted 4 birds which we have never seen before sitting on next doors arial in a row, they looked quite comical with a quiff on the back of their heads, but we couldn't make out what they were. They were Bohemian waxwing!

    My friendly Robin visits every morning for his fix of meal worms and thistle seeds. He appeared just after I left a handful of fresh food out for him as it was thick frost this morning. I love that he returns every day.

    We were walking through a car park near the Thames and my 11 year old daughter yelled, "A Kingfisher!" Sure enough a kingfisher had landed near us. We watched him dive for fish. I was so happy that she had spotted him and knew he was special!
