I am so delighted that my owl box has once again been used by a pair of the local tawny owls this year. (Last year the squirrels took so much foliage and branches into the box that the owls could not get in!) I hope the terrible weather forecast for the next couple of days does not stop them feeding. Not sure if there are one or two babies.
Hi Owl what a brilliant photo hope you get to see some youngsters.

Beautiful , aren't they ? Tawny owls seem to be having a good season so far. I have seen and photographed two separate broods and Balbithan Bob has posted one as well.

What a lovely picture, there may well be two in the box lets hope so. Hope the rain wont be too bad I know it makes hunting so difficult for them, but hopefully they will find some food, and the rain wont be non stop.
Thanks for posting, lovely photo :)
how old are the owl in the box
This picture was taken on 8 May 2012 and on 12 May i took another picture which i posted on this site. On 13th the owl had fledged. I can't be sure how old it was as i do not know enough about tawny owls. I find it ineresting to note that in November there was a dead squirrel hanging out of the box and several weeks later i found 5 dead pigeons around the box. I can only assume that the parents were clearing the box of other wildlife in preparation.
Oh wow! Gorgeous!! What a privilege!

YES! I realise i am very lucky to have such lovely birds nesting in my garden. I also have had a pair of jays nesting and great spotted woodpeckers and nuthutches regularly visitng the feeders. I supppose i should fix up a camera on the feeders!
Aww, they are so sweet and fluffy! Great news, Owl, hope everything goes well for you and your little friends :)
This is the last picture taken before this baby fledged. I only saw the one chick this year. Let's hope they come back next year.
Lovely photos, great to see, I hope they return next year :-)
The truth is I'm mad. We are all mad and many are too mad to know the truth.
Oh wow, they're amazing!! You certainly are so lucky to have such wonderful birds nesting in your garden! Lovely photos.
