I've been assured by a leading authority (me) that the design, colour and of course the name of the famous J-cloth was inspired by the plumage on this bird.

Thanks, they are stunning looking birds. This was on a feeder at my local reserve and taken from the hide. I feel that I somehow cheated but getting shots of them in the open is very difficult.
We have not seen one yet this year either in the garden or in the local fields although I thought I heard one the other day in the fields.

LOL Ray. They do clean up a lot though.
Very nice photo, John. I did catch one out in the open recently but it required a lot of work to get any half decent sort of image from a very underexposed photo. Even then it wasn't that good.

LOL John. I think they must adopt that position in order to make a quick getaway. All you usually see is a white flash of their rumps as they disappear.
