Fabulous set of shots Andrew! Love the 3rd one (I like the speckled look of the immature ones!) and also the last one with the grass! Superb!

You are not allowed to complain - it's an an English summer, where you need towels, swimming cossies, thermal under garments, welly boots and sub-aqua gear and possibly polar explorer gear, sun screen is optional and a canoe might be useful. Boat building skills also come in handy. Brilliant photos, the Razorbills look so velvety.

Brilliant photos, Andrew. Bet you don't get too many of those in Oman.
I liked the third one especially where he's eyeballing you and the pair necking. Like Marjus, I noticed the one with brown plumage on the upper wings. Presumably, one of last year's birds. I wonder how old they are before breeding.

Thanks everybody. Another nice day again today and a few more memory cards filled. Doesnt digital make you go shutter button mad:-)
TJ youre right we dont get any of these in Oman and Gannets are such lovely birds
Andrew
Beautiful set of photos. I like the mottled gannet, but my favourite is the next to last on the cliff face. Please excuse my ignorance, but is it a razorbill?
Cheers, Linda.

Thanks Linda
Yes it is a razorbill. I found it so hard to catch them in a light that allowed the eye to show without also blowng out the highlights of the white parts.
Thanks Andrew. If you find it hard to highlight a dark eye on a black face, what hope is there for me!
Wow Andrew simply stunning - I love the shot of the pair of gannets- the shadow going across the eyes and their facial expression is lovely. Thanks for sharing , haven't seen either of these birds yet.

I'm also a gannet fan - and razorbills. Oh and puffins especially. I guess it's because they're such intriguing birds that we landlubbers don't get to see except at places such as Bempton.
I know what you mean about the lighting on the razorbill's face being difficult. Why couldn't they have yellow eyes?!! :-)
Lovely pics as always, Andrew - and I hope you find that lost SD card.

Smashing photos Andrew, a pleasure to see them.
The truth is I'm mad. We are all mad and many are too mad to know the truth.
