I took my 'new' lens out this morning to see how well it performed. I think that I made a good choice as to the day!
Then the icing on the cake!!!!!!!! The shelducks have hatched!
All shots taken from about 40 yards away from the ducklings.
There would be no show without Punch - who almost insisted that I take more shots of him.
Just about to get into the car when these red-eyes caught my attention....
The greatest of faults, I should say, is to be conscious of none.
These are lovely - thanks for sharing your day out!
Best Wishes, Rosy
Life should be full of birdsong!

Gorgeous photos. I really love Oystercatchers, their bright red eyes and orange beaks and the way they walk. They're adorable. I've never seen a Redstart (I saw a Black Redstart a few months ago!), they're so lovely. And I'm awwwwwwing like crazy over those Shelduck babies! So cute!! :)
Thanks for the kind comments folks.
I watched the pond from about 200 yards this morning as there were cattle with calves in the field that would likely take exception to my presence and certainly that of my dog. However, in spite of the cattle having been paddling in the pond, all 4 ducklings were swimming about with mom while dad kept a wary eye on the crows.
Also, there are now two broods of redstart fledglings and one of pied wagtails fluttering about in the trees round the hen runs.
