Still disappointingly few Dragons around the area I visit. These are two of just a handful spotted today.
Common Darter ?
Black-tailed Skimmer ? A first for me if it is.

Cracking photos, Galatas. I wish I could confirm the ID's but sadly I can't. A big gap in my knowledge unfortunately.
I had a big brown job whizzing round the garden this afternoon, possibly a hawker of some sort, but couldn't get a photo.

I saw a couple of those golden brown ones as well but they wouldn't settle anywhere for me to get a shot.
Fabulous close-ups galatas. There are many insect experts on here so id is just a matter of time I would think
Enjoy the world around you and keep taking photographsSee all my photos here Cheers Judi

Dragonflies in your garden as well as red kites, green woodpeckers and goodness knows what else!

Thanks Teejay , Judi , Linda , Alan.
Experts are like policemen , never one around when you need them :- )
I would just like to add that I can't add anything to the IDs but would like to add to the praise on the quality of shots. Well done again and it looks like the sun came out for you too.
Bob, happily retired(-:)

Hi,
I can confirm that they are indeed a Common Darter and Black-tailed Skimmer. Both males.....
The difference between a Common and a Ruddy is the colour of the legs - Commons have yellow stripes down the legs whilst the Ruddy has all black legs.....
Great photos, btw....
My Blog!
Thanks Graham. Pleased I can add the Black-taile Skimmer to my list of sightings.
