A long lens is no substitute for getting close. i was lucky to get within a few feet of these.

In all seriousness did they just let you get close or did you have some cover. As you say they are so clear, bright and sharp. What lens did you use?
Nikon 300mm f4. Distance 20 feet or less. We were on a concrete sea defence. No cover available.
They are stunning shots Galatas - I could easily see those in a wildlife magazine, detail is gorgeous.

Thanks for the info, though you shouldn't be rubbing in the blue sky bit, though in fairnessw we had sun this afternoon and have a clear night tonight. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
To be honest the last two pics were taken last year , but it was just as beautiful today. Hoping for more of the same tomorrow.
