Mrs Bob took me out for a proper walk today. I was allowed to carry the camera if I wanted but we were going for a walk, so no unnecessary dawdling(-:).
Did manage a few pictures though as we stopped to unzip a banana and have a drink near one of the faems -
Plus some (poor) pictures of what I hoped was a Redstart - since confirmed on Identify This. The pictures would have been better if I had had the chance to stalk the little beggar, The two walkers who strode puposefully past me made sure that wouldn't happen. However, it's not too far from one of my local patches anyway so a return visit will be made on a day when I can take as much time as I like(-:).
Bob, happily retired(-:)

Brilliant photos Bob, well done to the Mrs for taking you on a proper walk.

It's great that you managed to sneak a few photos despite being dragged out for a proper walk. Cracking photos of the Swallows especially the second one in flight. I haven't managed to get any decent ones this year.

Awww Bob, gorgeous pics....got daughters seal of approval too. Spent ages a couple of days ago trying to get some (certainly far longer than it takes to unzip a banana LOL)...but the little blighters are far too quick for me. Really well done.
Cheers Deb

I had to have a quiet laugh at the no unnecessary dawdling comment. It reminded me of so many of the walks that Mr M and I have been on. ( Mr M likes landscapes and old buildings)
Your photos of the Redstart, in particular, and the Swallows and Martin above were well worth it tho'.

I know what you mean. I have a married man as my birding pal and we always have to set off home just when something interesting turns up.
Great shots of the Swallows.

I never cease to be amazed at how much I didn't know I didn't know.
Thanks Galatas. In fairness though, I can't really complain - she let me have that holiday in the States at my pace and lets me out on my own quite regularly - besides if we had done today's walk at my usual pace we would still be out there(-:).
Fab shots of the swallows, especially the second one.
I have a similar problem, except Mr. Sparrow pretends to let me go at my pace when I stop to take photos. Then I hear him sigh deeply, hear him tap his foot, see him curl his lip and look generally exasperated. Then eventually he grunts "are we moving or what?" so I know then my time is up.
Cheers, Linda.

Bob, There are quite a few redstart popping up at the moment so the chances are there will be some still around for next time. Nice swallows

Thanks. At least he waits with you - Mrs Bob has a tendency to just carry on, which means I have to rush to catch up or else risk following on when she has disturbed everything - therefore nothing to see. I think she is very clever in that one(-:). Still it was a good walk, covering a walk we first did some 20 odd years ago when we first moved down to Gloucestershire.
