Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
They are great photos, well done to your daughter. It is hard learning to land. I once watched a youngster learning to hunt by catching Grayling butterflies and it virtually threw a tantrum because it was too hard to do!

What a great set of shots, your daughter has a talent there........... Her own camera for Christmas LOL
Enjoy the world around you and keep taking photographsSee all my photos here Cheers Judi
Thank you Seaman, I am really proud of daughter. It was the first time she's 'captured' a kestrel.
It definitely didn't seem to be getting the hang of it Caroline, we pulled over when we spied it and daughter jumped out and was clicking away before I got my seatbelt off lol. The 1st attempt she captured, its legs were pedalling away in the branches as it tried to land at the edge of the branch. The 2nd time it looked to be successful, then it lost its balance and fell forward before retreating to the safety of the overhead line. So very funny. I was watching through the bins and I swear it had the same look on its face as our cockatiel when he falls off his perch and looks around to make sure nobody saw him.
Thanks Judy....I might actually get to use it then. When hubby bought it I did say that she could share it as my birthday is only a few days after hers. Maybe if I get a 'better' camera she can keep this one.....oh but wait, I know how that would end up LOL. Honestly though I don't mind cos I readily admit she is far better than me. We keep suggesting that she looks for a course to teach her how to use it 'properly' cos we think she could be quite good, so it's great that other people agree.
Beautiful sequence of shots! Well done daughter!

Thanks MarJus.
Actually just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on enhancing the 7th pic - the one where the kestrel thinks it's made a landing with its wings pointing straight up.........
I'm sure the photoshop experts will give it a go Deb..i've just altered contrast.

I've tweaked it a little in Lightroom but I'm not sure that it's improved it over and above what doggie has done. However, I thought it's sufficiently good to stand a bit more cropping so that's what I've done. I don't know whether you think it's an improvement or not.

Yours def looks better TJ
Well both are definitely 'enhancements', so thank you for that. I did wonder about further cropping, so far the pics have been cropped on the camera only, which magnifies at around x3. I rarely crop beyond that because they usually end up grainy, but every now and then it's worth a try
