I've been after this one for three days. Frozen to the bone waiting and waiting. Almost impossible to get a clear shot with all the twigs between me and him but I got him at last.
Not in Drexyl and Andrew or others league but I'm happy with them.
Plus a couple of bonus birds to round off the day.
Is this a female Blackbird with the Songthrush ? Something different about it to me. Could it be one of the German migrants I've heard about ?
I know nowt :)

God gave us two ears and one mouth for a very good reason!
Well done for braving the weather Galatas, definately worth it, these are great. The Kingfisher pics are tremendous :-)
April & May can often be beset by the blasts of winter, when a cold wind sends temperatures falling. Since this coincides with the flowering of the Blackthorn, the cold snap is known as a 'Blackthorn Winter'.
Cracking photos. He is a very handsome chap. Nice to get a Yellowhammer too. I just don't see them round my way.

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song. (Chinese proverb)
Thanks Birdie. I put them on the computer as soon as I got home. Haven't even taken my coat off yet Hahaha. Going to get a warm cuppa and something to eat to warm me up now.
These are brilliant pic 3 and 4 of the KF are superb and the yellow hamer is lovely
You cant beat the thrill of having got close enough to take these sorts of pics withoyt a hide
Well done they are great and the colours are jusr so natural

I would be much more than happy with those photos - the third kingfisher spreading his wing is especially nice.
It is a lady blackbird with the thrush. The European migrants are bigger than our residents and seem to be more orangey on the chest to me. I get them in my garden in winter.
Hope you have thawed out now - I got frost bite just hanging out of the window this morning!
EDIT. I agree with Andrew. The kingfisher photos are very natural, just how they should be.
Cheers, Linda.

Thanks everyone especially Andrew. Praise from you is praise indeed. All taken from a public footpath , no hide. I've some strange looks over the past three days hanging about on a public footpath I can tell you hahaha
These are my previous best KF shots , so you can see why I am so pleased with today's close ups.
Yes, I can see why you are so chuffed to get closer, but the second lot look good to me!
Wow Galatas -3 days- i can just hear the adrenalin pumping. Fabulous shots and well worth your cold wait.
Best wishes Lolly

Thanks. My heart was racing as I tried to find a gap in the bushes for a clear shot. I was convinced he'd fly off before I got one.
Lovely! Must say I really like the previous ones too, esp. the ones among the bulrushes and the first flight shot :)
