I had just placed some dog meat on the bird table when this juve Starling pounced, it allowed me time to go in doors, set my camera to take these pics, it started on a sunflower heart and some Robin food mix

Great set of shots. A much understated bird, the juvenile Starling.
Great photos John. They are stunning birds, but much better in full adult breeding plumage of course! Unusual for them to be eating seed as they are mainly insect and fruit eaters, with tons of suet thrown in. I can imagine the dog meat didn't last long!
Cheers, Linda.

Love the pictures John. I am a great fan of starlings both adults and juveniles. They are such characters, albeit noisy little fellas when they appear en masse. The adult's iridescent plumage is stunning if captured in the right light and they provide me with much entertainment in our garden particularly when they are squabbling (which is often!).
