Not a lot of bird activity in my local areas so I had a look for some Damsel and Dragonflies. Not many of those up here yet either but I managed to find a few Damsels.
Banded Demoiselle (male)
Azure Damselfy
Large Red
Banded Demoiselle (female)
I think these last two are the exuviae

I never cease to be amazed at how much I didn't know I didn't know.
Absolutely superb to see these, and marvellous photographs. Completely Breathtaking.
The truth is I'm mad. We are all mad and many are too mad to know the truth.
Brilliant photos, love them. The second species is Azure, the third Large Red, and the last is female Banded Demoiselle.
psst, want to see my blog? http://mazzaswildside.blogspot.co.uk/

Great shots Galatas
Patience gets results

a good laugh is better than a tonic
Thanks Ray. What I lack in skill I make up for with patience. I spent over 90 minutes at that pond to get those shots.
Some nice shots there.
The third male Banded Demoiselle probably has the weakest wing bands that I have ever seen on one (and is presumably still maturing), the exuviae both look like Red-eyed Damselfly, based on the three distinct bands on the caudal lamellae (or 'tails' if you prefer!).

These are lovely shots Galatas. I might give these guys a go myself whilst I'm home. Off to Matlock tomorrow for the day in search of Dippers. Only got a few hours so not sure how it will go, at least the weather looks a little better for tomorrow.
Thanks for the extra info Roy. (pics 3 & 4 are the same individual )
Good luck with the Dippers Andrew. Your biggest problem could be low light. Dippers like woodland streams and now the trees are in full leaf it may be quite dark beneath them.

I thought that they probably were - the colour is always more obvious when you are looking through all four wings at once!
Lovely set of photos - great quality and a good variety of species. Hoping to do bettter myself this year once weather improves - not that the long term forecast looks very hopeful of much sunshine.

Thanks Dave. The sun did shine for a while on Monday so I went to the same location hoping for some Chasers. Unfortunately the place was busier than a Friday evening at Asda so I abandoned my search.
