During our hour doing the 'Make your nature count' we had a visit from a green woodpecker and family. I managed to film the event as we have only seen these birds once before (fleetingly) and usually only hear them in the woods at the back of the house. One was on the ground for at least 20 minutes pecking the lawn for, we assume, red ants. The other woodpecker was feeding the youngster titbits from the bird table. We usually see a load of blue tits, crows, magpies, doves and pigeons - especially since buying a berry/fat tray from our local Wizard/Pound shop - the birds go crazy for this!
