Hello
This morning we have seen 3 long tailed tits on our feeders - good news as I love them and they haven't been around for weeks . Will try and see if they are young ones or not. We had lots in the winter and spring but then they disappeared.
Also have a very cheeky young robin - he came to see me when I was doing a bit of gardening yesterday - sat watching me just a few feet away - not bothered by me at all . He was starting to lose his specled feathers. We have had at least two young robins this year .
Of course I didn't have my camera to hand - never mind hopefully he may come back today.
I'm trying to sort out our 'cottage garden' - to be honest it looks a mess at the moment as I don't seem to have any plants flowering. It looked lovely in June but due to the dry, hot weather everything finished flowering early.
Anyone got any suggestions for plants that will flower from now through to Sept - have to like very dry and freedraining soil and full sun. Won't be able to plant anything now until the Auyumn.
Thanks

Hi Jazzcat
There are quite a few plants that you could think about getting now that will be in flower or will be in flower soon. Lavender should be in flower now and is great for attracting insects, heather (Calluna vulgaris) and bell heathers (Erica sp) will be in flower in the next few weeks if they are not already and many bees and other insects adore them. These two options both cope well in dry conditions with full sun.
A few others you could try are Orpine, Verbena, Russian sage and of course Ivy (which is possibly the best wildlife plant to have in the garden!)
