Are there any in Lancashire or Cumbria?

Leighton Moss and Wigan Flashes.
Leighton Moss is your best bet.. http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/placestovisit/leightonmoss/f/12409/t/62737.aspx
Although there are regular reports of Bitterns on several of the Wigan Flashes , such as Pennington and Bryn , they are hard to locate. I live locally and haven't been able to spot one there yet.
I know nowt :)

Thanks, will go next week.
Wigan flashes cover a considerable area and unlike a lot of RSPB reserves they're not under constant observation by birders. Some parts , especially the reedbeds , are relatively innaccessible , there could be more Bitterns in the area than is realised.
Leighton Moss is you best bet. At the moment if you can get there on a nice sunny morning go to the public hide, they sometime just sit there sunbathing! Especially after a period of cold wet weather. If you need any help just ask.
You might also pick up good views of Otters, Marsh Harriers and Water Rail.
Leighton Moss is the place.
