  • Hi all, yes a little predictable but, I took the weather mans advice and got up early. There was only the morning sun to be had, he said, and he was right!

I don't have to walk up the hill as the bus goes over, not quite the top, it takes the load. I walk up the last quarter and then down the other side to home. Stopping occasionally :-)

The view from the hill confirms its cold and winter is on us. I must confess I'm a winter fan! I think it is around Crieff area! I love walking up through and around them but very rarely stop to see what their called! Its west of Perth anyway.

    Speaking of Perth,

Below is one for MarJus to name Red Roe Doh!!! ?

I'm not sure how many people remember the African Queen. I had a Crazed moment like Bogart in the boat! The swarm clip!

In the trees below, a flock of great number landed. Goldcrest everywhere. the other side of the trees, if like me your first move would be to get the sun behind, is a long drop to doom.

They dashed about like little mice in all directions. It was a combination of delight and terror, Terror that I would come out of this moment without a single clear shot!!

    But obvious delight!

They are very cool little birds.

Most of my shots where useless. after five min or so they suddenly went and all was quiet. It is a moment I will not forget in a hurry. There was also a large Tit flock mostly Long Tailed. the Buzzards and Woodpeckers, the later being too quick today! There is a Robin every ten yards (unless it was the same one) hard to tell.

Oh and my first shot of a Fieldfare It never let me get close but, I take the shot I've got!

    John :-)

For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.

  • Wow!!!!!! Superb pics & yes, it's a roe! :-)

Love the snow & the goldcrest too!!!

  • Beautiful photos again John. It is good to see the views as well as the wildlife - of which you seem to have more than your fair share, I have to say ☺

The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.

The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

  • Thanks MarJus, I will try to learn more none bird stuff!!

Thanks Squirrel, I have been spoilt lately, hope it continues, I like it. To think of all the traveling I've done, when my little local hill is ALIVE!

  • Thanks John, just catching up with all your recent photographs ( have been away for a break) and have thourougly enjoyed viewing them all.

If I had to pick any from your latet post it would be Goldcrest (No 4) . Love your scenic pictures and the snow on the peaks. Thank you.

  • Have so enjoyed all your great photos: you have such patience in waiting for those special opportunities we all call "luck"  !

This is beginning to lend itself to variations on well-known songs you could sing, John:-

    DOH! A deer, I don't know deer...

    and

My hill is alive with the sound of birdsong

    ☺☺☺
