Hi All,
Yesterday I braved the cold weather(?) as we had sunny, clear blue skies for a day out, visiting Amwell NR.
And I'm glad I did! 47 species seen in total, including Red-crested Pochard; Goldeneye; Smew; Lapwing; Snipe; Cetti's Warbler; and a BITTERN! (Sorry Becca!).
A few photos of the day:
I think he was trying to sneak past me:
'You put your left wing in.....'
Lovely Reed Bunting, there were loads of them about:
And I also came across a flock of Siskin:
THE END!
Rye Meads next week if it doesn't rain!
Best wishes, Graham

Hi Graham
Things slip down the list so quick especially this weekend things are getting missed fortunately I checked on what you have been up to in case I had missed anything and found this. I hope your obvious talent in attracting Bitterns will pay off at the end of the month and some of that sunny weather wont go amiss either, that Siskin is certainly giving you the "eye" too.

EDIT: could not resist a caption.

GRAHAM THAT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY!! :-(
Though I did see a Bittern last time I was there, through someones scope haha!
Brilliant pictures, looks like you had a good day, I'm a bit jealous of the Siskin!
Becca :-)
Thanks All....
Andrew, the Bittern photos were taken around 1pm-ish, great light beaming down on it. But I would gladly swap a bit of early afternoon sunlight for some of your great birds....!
Viv, you'll get to see a Bittern, it's only a matter of time...
Nice one Shane :)
Becca, the weather looks good towards the end of the week so I might try a visit to RM or Cheshunt, we could meet up again?
Sorry for the late reply, during the weeks just aren't good for me anymore, since moving jobs I have to leave for work earlier and barely get to use my camera these days!
Weekends are my only option though Saturdays I still work 9-1:30 so Sundays are my only day off :-(
If only I could work from home :-(
