Hi to all. I'm heading up to Invarary for a weekend break on Friday. Does anyone know of any good spots to try. Are there any bird sanctuaries nearby? Any rarities to look our for? Would appreciate any input.
Years and years since I was last north of the border but I have a tip for you . . put Inveraray in your satnav not Invarary :- )
Loads of herons on the Loch shores, as well as other waders around. There will be otter as the sea loch is rocky with loads of sea weed. There are some wonderful woodlands down the loch side with all sorts of birdlife. Jays + buzzard are a common sight. The friend I used to visit had a bag of day old chicks in the freezer to feed the buzzards!! Have seen distant views of eagles over the mountains, there might be good views of white tails in the area. I've seen them a wee bit further north.
You must try the local fish, there is a wonderful smokery near by + a great hotel on the other side of the loch.
I'm sure that someone will have loads more info for you.
A wonderful area - enjoy
Lovely place to visit. Try this link for details www.inveraray-argyll.com I'll agree with Osprey on the details as I've been there quite a few times. Enjoy your weekend break. Regards
Thanks for all you replies. I appreciate them very much. Sorry about the spelling. I finally realised I'd got it wrong when Invarary USA came up on Google maps. Looking forward to my weekend away.
