Hi everyone
I was wondering if you could help me! I was hoping to see Starlings flocking somewhere and I have a few questions. Im from Leeds but dont think they have many sightings at the local RSPB reserve - Fairburn Ings. Does anyone know the best closest place to see them? and is January a good time to attempt to see them?
Thanks!
Hi there
I believe the Blacktoft Sands reserve near Goole could be what you are looking for. Go soon though, or they'll be starting to disperse and go their own ways ready for the nesting season.

In previous years I could see the starlings fly over my house and go to roost down the road. However this year I haven't seen any at all, I dont know what it has been like elsewhere in the country...
I am normally innundated with starlings in my garden. I have hardly had any since the end of the last breeding season.. I'm not complaining - life is much easier with just a handful of them!
Cheers, Linda.

I am not aware of large roosts in the Leeds area - if anyone knows, do let me know so we can add it to the list! Lady's Bridge and St Marys Church in Sheffield have starling roosts, as does Runcorn Bridge, Blackpool North Pier, and RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss. CJ is right, though - go soon before the roosts disperse.
Is there a list? Where would I find it? I am new to the site and still finding my way around. Thanks.
