On a day when most would stay indoors, we decided to take a walk around Dungeness RSPB reserve. The wind was nearly gale force but what a day. The small birds kept their heads low most of the time and when they did fly they were gone....
The bigger birds was a different story and oh what a day. Hobby, Marsh Harrier, Grey Heron, Purple Heron and a Bittern. Days just don't come this good that often, so went home happy. Most were too quick or too far away to make it worth taking pictures but here is one of the Hobby.

Cracking photo Robert, and makes me think we should not let bad weather deter us from going out.
Take care all, Stich.

Brilliant photo Robert, i found the same thing with the bigger birds and the weather when i spotted a Kestrel sat on a post...as Stich says it just shows we shouldn't let the weather deter us from getting out.

Great photo Robert, of a beautiful bird. I can't imagine how you stood up on Dungeness beach. I was there a couple of months ago and although it was a fairly mild day at home, it was bitterly cold and windy at Dungeness. Sounds like you had a great day though, with a huge variety of birds to see. As others have said, we should be a bit braver on bad weather days!
bye for now
That's an incredible shot! :)
That is a stunning shot Robert, well worth braving the weather. How lucky were you to have it pose so well on the post!
Cheers, Linda.
