Does anyone know when the ospreys might start returning to Rutland this year? I was thinking about planning a trip up in April and wondered if this would be a good idea.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.
This is the Rutland Osprey Project website - the news page shows that the first osprey returned on 19th March last year.
More significant perhaps is the Reserve Diary, dealing with events at the nest in Manton Bay, which is the one on the reservoir that can be observed from a hide (the others are on private land and can't be visited). This was occupied, by a new pair, on 5th April last year. They went on to breed successfully, raising three chicks, so it's likely that they will be back this year at around the same time. Keep an eye on the site - there was also a webcam on the Manton Bay nest last year. Enjoy your visit!
Excellent! cheers Sue C.
It seems that if i leave it until a bit later in the month, i should be guarenteed to see some.
I shall keep my eye on their website for the latest updates
There is more info about Rutland Ospreys within the Loch Garton group on here.

It's really good to be able to follow their progress across the globe! Nice to see the great photos from such dedicated people.
