Great Tits Chucking Seeds On Floor Then Picking Them Up ?

Hi there,

All the birds are now back,

I have noticed the Great Tits sit on the feeders chuck the seeds on the floor and then wait, and the pick the seeds up from the floor, eat them and then repeat it.

 

Why are they doing this?

    I would keep an eye out for baby great tits :)

    My tits do this for a few days before they bring babies in, as they struggle to land on the feeders, but get to eat the bits the parent through down.

    It's both what you do and the way that you do it!
