It seemed to be eating and getting around OK but is that a feather or something stuck under the wing, I can't make it out.

Hi Doggie, I didn't see it until 4.00p.m. and then saw it hopping about but not flying so don't know, another of the robins chased it down the garden towards me and it vanished out of my sight, so I'll have to keep a look out tomorrow again. I enlarged a photo earlier and it looked most peculiar so that's why I put it up.
That does look like an out of place feather. I'm sure it will have stopped for a preen eventually and will have sorted it out with luck. Have you seen it since you took these photos?

Yes MC I saw him yesterday and think you are right as the white area seemed less obvious and it certainly flew off OK. We have two or three at present so are always chasing each other away as you know only too well. I was a bit concerned as it seemed like a piece of cardboard stuck out, not that I would have been able to do anything anyway.
