I hadn't seen any greenfinches in my garden for several weeks which puzzled me. Then this little chap turned up on my birdfeeder - but there seems to be something very odd about his legs and feet. What is it and what can/should I do about it?

Like everyone else I have theories and opinions on lots of things I know b*gger all about.
Very common amongst finches. You could try disinfecting your feeders, but I doubt it will stop the spread of the mites. From what I read, the birds can manage with this, and live a fairly normal life.

Thanks Stich - that's very reassuring - I was quite worried about it, but it was flying and feeding OK.
