The velvet jacketed gentleman

I have a mole in my garden who will not take the hint and leave.  He has gone from the back to the front - via the flower borders, and he is driving me mad.  I have tried burying bottles, windmills, battery operated mole chasers - the works.  This morning I woke up to two huge molehills right in the middle of the front lawn.  He has to go.  I really don't want to exterminate him but I am at my wits end.  Can anybody give me advice on getting rid of him humanely please?

  • I can understand that it would be really annoying if you've put a lot of effort into your flowerbeds, but it's always a compliment when wildlife moves in.  You might find it's far less stressful to accept your new lodger and enjoy the fact that wildlife wants to share your space.  Relax, feel proud, and marvel at nature's JCB!

  • Not sure i agree with using jeyes fluid in the garden...!

You could try a more natural way - mix up some peppermint oil/garlic salts/chilli powder in a watering can and pour it liberally over the worst affected areas or the areas you wish to protect. The mole is hunting for food while tunnelling so by making the food distasteful you'll put him off the area. Obviously you'll need to refresh it after a while, or after rain, so that it remains effective.
