I took this photo from quite a way away and then it flew off pretty quickly so I only got two blurry photos... Is it just a buzzard??
Thanks very much & hope you're all having a good Saturday :)
Hi Rosie yep it looks like a Buzzard to me..though i'm usually wrong.
Is there any chance you could add an initial or number to your nickname we already have a Rosie and it would stop some confusion.
Regards Alan
My photos are on Flickr and Website
Looks like a typical Buzzard to me as well. Well spotted Rosie

I never cease to be amazed at how much I didn't know I didn't know.
I'd go for Buzzard

Hi Rosie
That is indeed a rather lovely looking Buzzard, look snowy still there but a rather wonderful sunny day.

Excuse wobbily dyslexic spelling!
Wow, I didn't expect it to be a buzzard :) It looked absolutely huge to me, lol. And very white
My nickname is Rosie, my real name is Melissa... I could change it back to that if it helps avoid confusion? I'm sorry, I didn't know there already was a Rosie :) x
It's no big problem Rosie/melissa it's up to you..just thought i would mention it.
oh and well done spotting the Buzzard..dead jealous
It's no problem, it's changed now :)
We see tons of buzzards while out walking - normally they're just flying extremely high, though... I thought they were common?
That's better we will know who we are talking too now lol.
That's how i see them high up never how you got the first photo.
It depends where you live Melissa. They are certainly not common round me. I have never seen one in my vicinity.
Cheers, Linda.

I see them all the time perched on motorway fences. I got my best ever shot of one perched on someone's garden hedge literally on the edge of a busy road.I don't want to hijack your thread but the pic is in my gallery if you're interested.
Yes, we often see them on fences near a busy road - that's where I took that photo! :)
I'll keep an eye out for them a bit more. Thanks for all the help, guys x
I saw one yesterday on a post next to the A71 - main road near my village. I couldn't stop and it wasn't near a lay-by. so frustrating. I think there's more than one round here but I always see one within a couple of miles from home so it's hard to tell.
Hi
Common Buzzards were restricted to Scotland, Wales and the western half of England in the 1970s and have made a big comeback since about 1995.
They may be the commonest breeding raptor now.
