We have a stranger on the river. I think it is a goosander. Can someone describe a goosander to me?

If you see a Goosander, it will more than likely be a female. They invariably outnumber the males by at least 8 to 1. The females are also the tamer of the genders, readily joining in a feeding frenzy. Whereas the males will prefer to remain aloof, some distance away.
