I took this picture a few days ago now at Sculthorpe Moor in Norfolk. I had assumed it was a distant Marsh Harrier at the time. The bird was a long way off and the picture is a very heavy crop. However now looking at it on the computer screen I think I may actually have seen and photographed my first ever Red Kite.

I heard about the Red Kite over Sculthorpe Moor - I'm off there tomorrow as haven't been for a while. We shall see...

Hi Bob,
If you want to see marsh harriers go to Blacktoft Sands, i've never failed to see them there, they are everywhere!
These are a great success story in lots of areas but certain folk still want to be rid of them.We were just north of Leeds on Tuesday which is one of the Yorkshire hotspots for Red Kites and had up to 6 birds in the air at one time and had good views of perching birds as well. For more info on Kites in Yorkshire have a look at "yorkshireredkites.net",some great pictures on there as well as info.
