Can anyone help. Spends a lot of time on the ground. Not a Songthrush. Not a baby Blackbird.
out of interest - why isn't it a baby blackbird?
TeddyNot a baby Blackbird.
Hi Teddy and welcome to the forum.
It's certainly a Blackbird and my feeling is that it is a juvenile moulting into adult plumage. It has the characteristic spotty breast. It could well be a juvenile male from the dark tail and legs.
Hi Teddy welcome to the forum.
Yep def a Blackbird, as TJ says it could be a juvenile getting its adult feathers.
Yes, a juvenile Blackbird - they can be quite variable. i wouldn't want to comment on the sex.
I've just photographed this juvie Blackbird in my garden. Probably less mature than yours but you can see the similarity.
A stunning bird as TJ picture along with your own shows. I think a lot of people mistake the young as they just look like blackbirds.
Juvvy Blackbird- as they get older and moult you can sex them. This is safely a juv
