Today's garden visitors
HAZY
Apart from the surprise visit by a Rook today, it seemed to be pretty busy with the regular garden birds including more Corvids and a Robin for MC :) I'm not sure if the shots of the female bullfinch are of two different birds as they certainly look different and we do have at least two pairs...

Rewarding walk on a sunny day in Cheshire
HAZY
The weather was fantastic today with clear blue sky and bright sunshine so headed out to Neumann's Flash and Marbury Country Park areas, Nr. Northwhich, Cheshire. I was lucky enough to be able to tick a few more birds off my wish list as hubby and I took 5 and half hours wandering around this amazing...

Local Forest Walk
Ella
My friend and I went for a walk in the forest that surrounds us, climbing higher and higher until we reached the moorland at the top of Mynydd Maer Common. Absolutely exhausting, and we're full of aches and pains today, but it was worth it for the incredible views - and in sunshine for once!! There...

Pleasant walk on a Spring day
HAZY
A beautiful warm spring day, albeit, a little breezy, so decided to head out to Neumann's flash/Marbury Park areas, nr. Northwich in Cheshire. Had a pleasant walk between the two areas and heard many birds singing loudly, preparing their nesting sites and baby rabbits diving into their burrows !...

The rest of the pics from Slimbridge today.
bob's_retired_now
The teacher doesn't seem to have any control over his pupils. Shelduck Something put these up - no sign of Peregrine but there is definitely a Goshawk haunting Slimbridge currently. Cormorant at various times of the day. Birds around the feeders at the Willow Hide...

Some pics from Somerset - first Wheatear of the year.
bob's_retired_now
Visited sand Point in North Somerset after seeing some of dipperboy's pictures on Flickr, as its not a great lot further than Portbury Wharf straight down the M5. It was abeautiful sunny day but it was only when I got there I realised hown strong and cold the wind was. Anyway it was a bracing walk...

Monday's magic moment: frosty robins
Kevin Middleton
Frost and decorations. These are two things I noticed at the weekend. There's definitely more decorations popping up in the area of Bedfordshire where I live. And it was cold too and pretty frosty when I was up and out at first light on Saturday (I hasten to say awake as well, but hey!). So...

Monday's Magic Moment: bring me sunshine!
Katie Fuller
Are you in need of a bit of warmth and sunshine after what's been a wet weekend for much of the UK? This gorgeous robin, taken by Kaleel Zibe from RSPB Images , is just the thing to brighten your morning! Let's hope the weather picks up soon...

Think all's quiet? Think again!
Kevin Middleton
You might think that it’s the calm before the storm out there in your garden. That the blackbirds and robins are quietly going about their business in readiness for the upcoming breeding season. But, believe it or not, some birds will actually be putting the finishing touches to nests and settling...

Countdown to Christmas: 17

Is there still room for robins at Christmas? What do you think is the most popular bird to feature on Christmas cards? I bet most people would choose the robin. But this year, we have been surprised to discover that cards with robins on are not our bestsellers. In fact, robin cards are not even...

A Robin sang in Dungannon Park

I was in Dungannon Park taking landscapes across the lake and I could hear a Robin singing in the laurels beside me. The song became more and more loud and when I turned round he was a metre from me. I managed to get in the one quick shot

Robins don't migrate... do they?
Katie Fuller
We saw burly great skuas powering their way through the stiff breeze. Snow-white gannets sliced the air and tickled the waves with their wingtips. Pilot whales appeared from the depths, a jet of spray came from a sperm whale and a pod of common dolphins joined us to surf our bow wave! I saw lots of...
