I have a small pond which is mainly for wildlife (no fish). Leaves are falling thick & fast. I started clearing them bur most have several snails on them which I laboriously pick off & throw back in. Have tried netting the pond but was put off this when a small bird got caught in the net ( fortunately managed to free it unharmed), Is it ok to leave the leaves & hope that the snails will devour them? Any ideas welcome.
If there are a lot of leaves they will begin to rot and poison the water. Pull the leaves out and leave them beside the pond, the wildlife on them will find it’s way back to the pond and then you can get rid if the leaves.
Life is too short to waste.
i get alot too watch out for damselfly larva as they are rather small and cling to the underside of leaves as mention water snails can to generallly remove leaves but its a never ending task
