Hi tersan and welcome to the forum
Very nice Christmas present for you and well captured. I've photographed them in their traditional "I'm pretending to be a reed " pose but never in flight. Enjoy the forum.

Hello Tersan, what a brilliant capture. I can't remember ever seeing one fly, never mind photograph one, and then I wouldn't succeed. Thank you.
Hi tersan
Most people feel happy just to see a bitten but to catch it on camera both flying and on the ground - just wonderful.
If it lands in the garden your be one up on most people's Great Garden Watch.
Great capture.
Robert
Hello Robert, it's not likely to land in the garden, but it was very close to the garden
Hi tersan and welocme to the RSPB Froum. Enjoy yourself here
Lucky you seeing a bittern as you have shown us
I remember going to Paxton Pits (reserve close to where I stay) a month ago and they said that they had a Bittern which flew over the Reserve, and the thing that was noted is the size of their feet
Those feet are large even in flight LOL
