Hi
After it's just took me 15mins longer than normal to mow the lawn due to having to keep stopping so i don't run over any bees and then not having the heart to mow the clover and lions i think i'm suffering fron COMPULSIVE WILDLIFE DISORDER.
Regards Alan
My photos are here and here
Hi Alan
CWD ...never in a million years...just shows that you are very observant about the creatures about you in your life, and there is nothing wrong with that at all
Each time I go out to feed the Birds I try not to stand on any bees that are enjoying the odd flower on the lawn space.
We have a Bee nest close by our current house, so we have no choice. Now these days, I have such a respect for Bees as they go through so much to get what they want from their lives, and help our lives you have to admire them at all levels.
In our last property we ended up with a Bees nest in the middle of our lawn under a plant pot with a hole on top {don't ask LOL} and decided to leave them until they had finished their year - sadly we moved out of the house and found out the nest had been destroyed soon after we moved.
So...carry on loving Bees forever... and you have a lovely garden
Regards
Kathy and Dave
Ta Blackbird you certainly need a cuppa after doing the lawns..
I've never seen so many bees about so they're welcome to the clover and dandelions(and it means i haven't got to cut so much lol)
Dave loves mowing lawns by the way - how unusual is that - he is fixated with them LOL
Lawns do take a lot of muscle out of you...especailly on a hot day!
Just think of that cooling beer at the end.
Haha Doggie, I think I have it as well:) there is currently a slight disagreement in this household as I have left a large part of the lawn to grow and just cut paths through it. Himself is not entirely in agreement but then he has not seen all the moths, butterflies and grasshoppers that are enjoying it - he will change his mind if glow worms turn up.

Hiya Caroline
I'm glad i'm not alone, looking at the clover i don't think that patches in a lawn would look that bad, for next year i might get some seed and sow it in shapes to see what happens..the bees certainly love it
Oh yes I can verify it definitely does exist. - I have it too (LOL)
Enjoy the world around you

I don't have any clover on my back lawn, but I do try to keep my front lawn free of it. I don't use any harsh chemicals for it, I just pull it up whenever I see it.
Himself keeps the lawns too short for it to flower though.
Best wishes Chris

I've never see so many bees on the lawn and didn't have the heart to mow the clover. lol
Bees love clover and keeping at least part of the lawn uncut through the spring and summer can attract in a whole host of different invertebrates to those that you will find in short-mowed-to-within-an-inch-of-its-life lawns. Diversity in grass length is the key to a wildlife rich lawn (as well as ditching the chemicals!) so keeping some areas short with swathes of longer grass can be a really simple yet effective measure for any type of lawn.
Some useful tips here for anyone planning to experiment with their lawns in the future!

just about to upload some pics of the bees on the clover
Haha that's like me with the plantain - they are in flower at the moment and the patch they are in has been left. Fortunately OH approves - he finds them pretty too!
+1 for the weeds! lol

KatTai +1 for the weeds! lol
Thankfully for the garden my theory is..a weed is a flower thats in the wrong place...so i leave them all lol
I have pretty weeds in the corner - they have little purple flowers and the bees like them lol
