Hi WF - lovely photo - the sky your way looks a lovely blue!
We have ivy in flower but after saying on another thread that I've seen lots of insects around it, I haven't seen any for a few days but the flowers are all out and waiting for them, then again we have had an awful lot of rain. Today was a good day but I was out all day so couldn't say what was visiting.
Regards
Kerry

Yes WF, I did check the ivy today, but we will keep checking. We are in E. Sussex and yet when we visited my sister-in-law in W. Sussex , she complained of a sudden invasion. (about ten days ago.)
Wildlife friendly I thought it would be interesting to hear where and when the last bees and butterflies were spotted and when the first ones appear next year. I’ve still got Bumble bees and honeybees feeding on the last of the Dahlias. I also saw a dragonfly flitting around the pond this morning.
I've had quite a lot of red admirals visiting my garden this year, the last sighting of one was this week when our neighbours little boy was in my garden holding a white ball, the butterfly landed on top of it and just sat there quite content, wish i had got a photograph it was beautiful. I have a variety of plants and plenty of nettles in my garden, perhaps the reason they do visit!.
saw two today in the car park at RSPB Barons Haugh. One was definitely a Red Admiral but the other was further away,it was dark?
Lovely photo Brenda! Certainly no expert but I think it's a southern hawker!
This wasp popped in the hide yesterday to get out of the heavy rain and have a quick clean up!

Great photo MarJus.
It’s been a beautiful sunny day down here, I counted over a dozen honey bees on a fuchsia and did see a butterfly but I couldn’t identify it as it was between me and the sun.
The Ivy is still covered in wasps.
There was one lone honey bee who was desperately trying to extract nectar from a bright yellow Trug!
Life is too short to waste.
Marjus, thanks for a name for the dragonfly. I must learn more about them.
WF, sorry to say, nothing to report. I have spent most of today working in the garden. Plenty of various birds (plus one poor dead chaffinch) but bees, wasps, butterflies seem to have deserted us.
I saw a huge Red Admiral butterfly yesterday (Sunday 8th November) - it was so big that at first I thought it was a bird flying across in front of me until I looked again!
Not great with ID of such so this is what I saw today!
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Great photos MarJus and John!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Still many bees on the Lavetera - some bumble bees and some honey bees. Sorry no pictures.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Think that could be a honey bee John as I think I can see pollen sacs on the 'flight' pic!
I think anything flying today around our way was busy wringing their wings out, we've had wall to wall rain since last night and continuing all throughout today.
Nicely put Kezmo - I can just imagine them wringing their wings out!
It was too wet and windy for anything here as well!
There is something new to learn everyday...
