Finally I'v got a woodpecker in my garden attacking my peanut feeder having a right good hammer at it. I am a very happy bunny. :)
Aim higher in case you fall short.
Well I for one am jealous. I'm too far from woodland to have much chance of one turning up in my garden. But never say never , eh ?

Like everyone else I have theories and opinions on lots of things I know b*gger all about.
Well done Wild-Heart never had one in the garden but heard one hammering away on my walk today
Regards Alan
My photos are on Flickr and Website
Congrats Wild Heart. Like Galatas and Doggie, I've never had one in my garden.
Cheers, Linda.

Great stuff! The pair that spend the winter in my garden are still here but I should imagine they'll be heading up the hill soon. Then I'll just hear them drumming away and occasionally calling each other. Love them

God gave us two ears and one mouth for a very good reason!
Great news, Wild-Heart. I'm lucky enough to get a GSW sometimes but most of the time it spends its time bashing an old dead tree in another garden. I keep fingers crossed that the tree doesn't get felled just yet as the pecker is so happy and will probably leave the area!
Did you get any photos?
They are certainly a treat to watch, unfortunatley mine is very wary and flies off as soon as he spots me at the window. I've managed to get a couple of blurry photos that Alan and Galatas kindly played with to make them clearer. I shall persevere though. He likes my new suet log feeder.
I didn't get any photos sorry as the battery's died in the camera. The first time I saw her she was drumming on a up rooted tree. They do make a racket. I thought they would be a lot smaller. She always goes to my peanut feeders.
