Just go to
to see the live footage - amazing!
(got a friend with the same name). Thanks for the link as I spotted what I could be looking for www.wildlifewhisperer.tv/shop Trail Camera. I'd have to find out if it would be possible to place one of these on our Peregrines ledge/plucking post & the law?
There was a blog about camera trapping yesterday www.rspb.org.uk/.../camera-trapping.aspx
I don't think a camera trap is suitable for this purpose because of the need for frequent access ( to change batteries and memory card ) causing disturbance to the birds. You need a mains powered CCTV camera for long term remote observation.
Cameras should be installed prior to nesting otherwise you could be breaking the law by disturbing nesting birds.
hello, Galatas Quote;"I don't think a camera trap is suitable for this purpose because of the need for frequent access ( to change batteries and memory card ) causing disturbance to the birds." Excellent point. I was thinking along these lines as there is an access point under the arc lights of the plucking post to change the arc light bulbs, as for disturbance as the Peregrine is only there now & again it wouldn't really merit disturbance in between, I know what you mean Galatas I'd have to run this by the RSPB & Council (as previosly stated) but would be an ideal small camera to have in place as a community project. The same high rise building when the cladding & roof were being installed there was a Crows nest on the roof & work stopped until the occupants fledged, very considerate eh?
