Stood hours today but worth it aching arms and neck and all that.
She came off the nest with what looks like abit of moss in her beak, Would be nice if I could catch her removing egg shell.
It doesn't seem to bother her me going in and out of the shed and doing the lawns etc. Only see the other one very occasionally.
should be hatching any time now
Nice one pal hopefully you should be seeing them feeding soon..had one on a feeder yesterday for about 30secs
Wonder why she's taking moss out? My Great Tit chicks are looking quite grown up. The only thing mum takes out is the poo sacs.
Dont know myselfe . all I know is the eggs should be hatching anytime.
Just hope the eggs arev fertile
TeeJayWonder why she's taking moss out?
You know how houseproud and fussy females can be. I saw the same thing yesterday with Nuthatches. In between taking food in and poop out she brought out a large piece of leaf.
I've been watching your coal tits thread with interest! Looking forward to hearing news of any chicks. I hope it has a successful ending - fingers crossed for you.
Just thinking she's keepng things clean and soft the the young
Getting action with long breaks so think there may be life in there
Took these this evening
Think this is the male and he does have something in his beak
Looks like it's getting interesting Ray
That male/female is looking so scruffy, you have to feel for them Ray, here's hoping for good news.
it could well be the female thats been sitting.
Ones been coming out of the box about twenty miute intervals and flying back about ten minutes later, this time the second one followed and neither came out for about twenty minutes wich was the one returning with food. Not seeing the second bird very often so wondering if that is also spending a lot of time in the box.
edit Keep looking at the food and just hope its not an injured beak but it does look like a spider
Will have a look tomorrow
Gosh, it all sounds rather exciting Ray.Lovely little birds, hopefully all goes well and we get to see some photos of some little babies sometime soon.....have never seen a young coal tit yet.
wishing i put a nest box out this yr, but i dont really have anywhere to put them. have a south facing garden, have put it off cos i didnt want the eges to cook.
Really livened up today every five minutes or so,
got this sequence of one coming out of the box
I'm in luck with the perch. They seem to use it before entering now, and am happy to see the beaks are ok
Nice one Ray looks like your the proud uncle of baby Coal Tits..
