  • It appears that we have a Robin's nest in our small shed - which we discovered about a month ago with eggs in the nest. They would have got in through a broken window!
We have avoided going in there so as not to disturb but we now need to get stuff out and mow the lawn!

We noticed the eggs have gone but have also noticed Robins flying in and out the broken window.....we just don't know what to do for the best as we are loathe to disturb and upset them yet we need our shed back!!

    Any suggestions?

  • Sounds very much as they have fledged but are still in the shed.

Can you borrow a mower, if yours is handy just to open thedoor and  get it you may be ok but close the door while cutting the grass. The only thing is they may scatter if disturbed. The only other way is to leave the door open for  a couple of hours without going in and see if the parents call them out

  • Thanks for replying

Just had another look by leaving the door open for a while - nothing came out but peeking in my husband saw a little head poke over the nest so guess parents are out. He is gonna get mower out - how long is it til the Robin's fly the nest?

  • 12-15 days

If you are careful they should be ok

     good luck

  • Robins are generally very tolerant of human beings . Time your comings and goings to when the adults are out if possible , otherwise you may get dive-bombed hahaha.

When a pair nested in my shed last year I was even able to set up a remote controlled camera to take pics of them. All the youngsters fledged successfully.
