  • looks like an Araniella curcurbitina

I like the look of the plant that it's on , very pretty.

  • Thanks Sugar

you could be right with the species.

The plant was only very small when I purchaced it , now grows about 12 ft and has to be trimmed evey year. Lots of people remark a bout it and go and buy one.

I'll take a picture and put it on the thread

    Ray

Here we go just been and taken a photo. It could well be more than 12 ft. More blossom to come. The blossom changes into bunches of berries but the birds don't seem to bother with them, so have to cut them off like bunches of small grapes every year

  • That is a lovely tree. I was going to ask if it gets berries, but you have answered that question.

I think it is an Elderberry cultivar

  • Thanks for posting the pics of your bush,

it's certainly got some Elder in there, beautiful,!

  • Ray, If you are prepared to experiment leave the berries on this year.  Birds won't take them until they are fully ripe.  You can use them to make elderberry jelly or wine.  Like all elderberries,  if using for human consumption best to cook to avoid tummy upset. Beautiful plant.

  • Thanks Caroline

I do leave them till they are ripe but will leave a little longer.

I won't eat anything I am not 100% sure about. If anyone wants the berries they are welcome
