I live on a housing estate in Bedfordshire I feed the birds every day But a few days ago i saw some birds I"d never seen before feeding on some hedge berries at the bottom of the garden I looked through some Bird books and found they where Fieldfares and the are still here after a week now . such wonderful birds.
Hi Buzz, I too live on a housing estate but in North london and also have a group of about 20 in the Garden....agree great birds.
Lee.
Hello Buzz and hello Nighthawk9 - welcome to the forum both of you. Great photo Buzz!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hi Buzz,
I live in East Dulwich, South London & saw my first ever Fieldfares on the 7th Jan. About 15 of them. There were another 6 yesterday (10th) further down the road.
It is almost exactly 4 years ago to the day I had my one & only sighting of Redwings (14 of them).
The Redwings were all groundfeeding while the Fieldfares were all on bushes & trees.

Sorry, I meant blackbirds.....didn't have my reading glasses on.
I'm sorry Buzz you must wonder what I'm talking about! I sent a reply that didn't come through where I spelt Blackbird wrongly, and thats what my last post was about. Anyway what I said that didn't come through was that I live in a South Cambridgeshire village and we have loads of fieldfare too. They arrived a few days ago. They are beautiful! I have put out extra fruit for them but they are bossy and are beginning to upset my resident blackbirds.
Hi Woodpecker, interesting that you found them bossy, as if you look at some of the other threads you will find other people reporting the same thing. Maybe its because they are not our usual Garden Birds & are not used to sharing! We have had just one, coming in to visit & inspect what all the fuss is about around our feeders, but he is too shy to come right down & eat, just sits in the apple tree looking hungry.
Hello Buzz and hello Nighthawk9 Welcome to the forum both of you. Great photo!
