Bit worried yesterday as no sign of the birds between decorating.
Then this morning they were really busy. Going through the entrance without stopping. stopping and pecking at the entrance on way out. After 20 min with cramp through keeping still with camera in hand was lucky.
Still keeping fingers crossed. Had to go into shed several times but they are still there.
Well done Ray i can't remember anyone saying they had nesting Coal Tits before on the forum...cracking photos, worth the cramp lol.
Fantastic Ray, and fingers crossed for your little Coaltits. :0)
Thats brilliant Ray.
Very busy this morning, then quiet in the afternoon.
They do seem to do most of the work in the mornings.
One visit this afternoon saw some lining taken in.
This was dog hair that I collected from the groomers.
They do seem to tolerate me a bit more
Great photos, Ray. I'm glad they're getting used to you going in and out.
Only just spotted this thread. They are great photos - you're very lucky to have nesting coal tits. I had a coall tit to-ing and fro-ing to the sunflower seeds all winter, but haven't spotted him once over the last two or three weeks.
still busy this morning, they have watched me going into the shed and just hang off a bit after Ive gone.
I'm getting more confident they will stay
They are so fast and I don't want to disturb them with the camera too much
What a great sight and so are the photos. I didn't know Coal Tits would nest in boxes. Let's hope they stay and rear a brood. I don't think I've ever seen baby Coal Tits.
This is the shed and the entrance to the box is just left of the light.
I made a box without a front drew round it where if fitted on the inside of the shed giving me an idea where to drill the hole. its fastened with a bracket on each side of the box . I did it this way to stop the magpies landing on the box as I'm sure thats what has happened to my blue tits before
Tried again this morning to photogragh but boy they don't half hang around
sorry for quality Ray
A little pocket rocket. LOL
I've thought about doing a similar thing on my shed but like so many things I've never got round to it. Have you got a transparent panel on the inside so you can see what's going on?
Must try the same idea next year, but first i'll need a new shed the weight of a box would make mine collapse lol.
good idea about the transparent panel TJ
No I havn't got a transparent back on the box, I think going in and out of the shed would put them off, Maybe a one way glass would do where you can see in but they can't see out.
If they are successful may try something next year or maybe a camera box.
IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN.
The magpies were watching this morning and this afternoon both tits were feeding and checking the garden shrubs out while I was in the garden
Alan get your money out from under the bed lol
Further to the box , when you have drawn round the box on the inside of the shed where you want the entrance drill a small hole from the inside then drill the larger hole from the outside using the first drill hole as a centre guide, if that makes sense.
woke up to this Wed morning and haven't seen them at all today. Just hoping
