First time in our garden
The Thamesmead Birder
A Jay on the nutty feeder. We have had them come in the garden before, but never seen them on the feeders. Wretched Magpie chased it off.

My Visiting Corvids
Ella
Sadly no Ravens, Rooks, Hoodies or Choughs (as if, lol!) but I'm happy to get quite a few Magpies, Jackdaws and Jays visit my garden, with the occasional Carrion Crow too, although the latter never hang around long enough for me to get any decent pics of them. I really do love Corvids. Such beautiful...

Jays are beautiful birds and as Galatas says, quite shy of humans. We had three in the garden today for peanuts that I had strewn down on the ground and in the feeder dish for them but this one was playing hide and seek today !

Mrs Bully at last! (plus a few other bird pics)

I've been having one lone male Bullfinch visit the garden a lot lately and had been wondering if he had a mate or not. Well she finally turned up today! First time I've seen a female Bullfinch since, well I don't know when. Ages! It looked like she was having a bit of a go at him, at one...

Greedy Little Jay!

Just how many peanuts can he cram into his beak?! Lol. (I say he but of course could be a she. Is it possible to tell?!) I'm always in awe of these beautiful birds. Such a priviledge to have them visit my garden!

Some Latest Garden Pics, Plus a Siskin! (A First For Me!) :)
Ella
Hi again. I've been taking more pics of my regular garden visitors over the past couple of weeks. Always such a joy to watch them feeding on the various foods I put out for them (the peanuts, mealworms, fat balls and sunflower seeds/hearts seem to be going the fastest at the moment). The lone male...

Hello, I Hope to show you the magic happening on my balcony garden

Hi all, I've been a keen bird lover since i was a child, but it has taken me until now to realise i could join the RSPB online. I have traveled all over the globe and love taking pictures of the bird life I find, but none compare to the incredible array of birds which are attracted to my tiny...

Howdy! Finally getting around to posting some pics I've been taking of my regular garden visitors over the past week or so. Nothing new, species wise, but I'm thrilled I'm still getting so many birds visiting. Oh actually, I say nothing new but a lone Long Tailed Tit has been briefly visiting...

cold weather bringing the birds back

After a really quiet spell my garden has finally had some visitors today with the drop in temperature. I had my very first Jay visit the garden... along with the return of dunnocks, blue tits doves and blackbirds. Some finches now would be perfect! This is my first winter feeding birds so i'm...

jays in garden
margot
We have three jays making regular visits to pick up peanuts from a tray on the ground app. 4ft from our conservatory. There only ever two at a time and the third sits in a tree waiting for his turn. Occasionally they have to run the gauntlet of a squirrel also eating from the same tray - the squirrel...

Hi again. I'm happy to finally be back online again after having only limited mobile phone internet access for the past month and a half. I recently moved house and have had a hundred and one things to do so I guess I haven't missed the internet as much as I could have done! At least I've...

Some Of My Current Regular Garden Visitors
Ella
I haven't taken many pics in recent months of the birds that visit my garden, but have started again, and thought I'd post a few. Nothing exciting, I'm afraid. No rare species, but I'm always thrilled to see any birds coming here. They're so wonderful to watch. Sorry the pics aren't...

Some Of The Birds I've Seen Over The Past Week!

My friend and I have just returned home from a lovely week spent in North Wales. We love going to Porthmadog, Llanberis, Caernarfon and other nearby places, and went to a few places on Anglesey too. During our travels we managed to take a few photos of some of the various birds we spotted. Some in fields...

Just come back from another visit to London. Whenever I'm there I always try to make time to go to St James' Park to feed the birds and squirrels. I just love it there. The birds are unbelievably tame and come to eat from my hands! Here is a lovely great tit doing just that (my friend Sue...

Re: Jays - getting more bold?
IanH
Hi All Jays can be very elusive, despite being pink with a bright blue wing flash! They are very difficult to see in the tree canopy. However, during late summer and autumn they seem to change tactics, instead of being the secretive bird of the canopy they spend much more time at ground level, which...

Jays - getting more bold?
Rivelino
I have always found jays to be shy and quite solitary - making rare and fleeting visits to our suburban garden (near Stockport). This summer I was amazed on a couple of occasions to see a small flock (6?) of jays visit the garden and nearby trees - some landed in the garden whilst others hopped from...
