GOSHAWK ! We only have a small urban garden with Koi pool. a few sycamores, elders and 10 foot hawthorn hedge plus a 'left alone' shrubbery containing a few tall hollies. Unbelievable competition between species for nesting space - robin, dunnock, wood pigeon, collared dove, great tit , coal tit all within 30 square yards! Have had Long Eared Owl visiting in February, young barn owl crashing into upstairs window at 3am, Sparrow Hawk, Greater Spotted woodpecker,Wagtails, Flycatcher (nested two years ago in box), two wrens within 15 yards of each other, blackbirds, jay, crows, starlings, goldfinches, looking forward to Long Tailed Tit families coming again this autumn, house martin nest front of house but earlier this evening.....a GOSHAWK no more than 3 yards from the kitchen window ripping a dove apart (you should see the feathers - almost a pillowcase full).
